We held the Sustainable Environment Leader Camp, which we implemented in collaboration with Dow Türkiye, in Istanbul between January 17–19. At this first-ever camp—officially opened with the participation of Banu Korun, President of Dow Türkiye and Central Asia—we shared an intensive and interactive learning experience focused on environmental sustainability with 19 teachers from 10 schools across 9 cities, including Ankara, Balıkesir, Çanakkale, Erzurum, Istanbul, İzmir, Muğla, Samsun, and Tekirdağ.
Throughout the camp, under the mentorship of ÖRAV educators, participants designed environment-themed teaching activities while strengthening collaborative working practices and peer-to-peer learning processes. Thanks to practice-based content, teachers gained concrete insights into how environmental topics can be integrated into classroom and school-based activities.
With this camp, we aimed to empower teachers as active leaders of change and transformation in the field of environmental sustainability. During the camp, our participating Sustainable Environment Leader teachers designed their own activities. These newly developed activities will soon be made open access for all teachers to use.
