Salt has published two online guides in collaboration with the Teacher Academy Foundation (ÖRAV) and with the support of STABILO in order to make it easier for educators to interpret art with their students. Prepared by writer-editor İlkay Baliç under the supervision of academic Evren Barın Egrik, "Interpreting Art at School and Outside School: A Guide for Educators", prepared by author-editor İlkay Baliç in consultation with academic Evren Barın Egrik, is a resource for all educators who want to make more space for culture and arts, creative and critical thinking in their own lives and professional work.

The interpretation guide prepared for Handan Börüteçene's ongoing exhibition "The Land of the Three Inland Seas" at Salt Beyoğlu offers users an example of interpretation by concretising the approaches and methods in the first guide through an exhibition at Salt.

"Interpreting Art in and out of School"


"Interpreting Art in and Out of School: A Guide for Educators" focuses on enriching the cultural literacy of educators and students by looking at arts education from the perspective of intercultural education. Among the primary goals of the guide are the free interpretation of art in learning environments, raising the questions it evokes, establishing new links and connections between communities of learners from their own perspectives, and thus opening up new spaces for discussion and dialogue. While the first part of the guide focuses on the ways and methods of interpreting art in line with these goals, the second part contains suggestions for planning out-of-school cultural activities and concretises these suggestions through the example of a visit to Salt.

In this way, Salt and ÖRAV are taking an important step towards strengthening and sustaining the cooperation between cultural institutions and the field of education. It is aimed that the guides will be regularly updated with feedback from teachers and students, deepened with workshops and digital content, and in this way, the interaction with the field of art education in Turkey will be continuous.
