At the heart of every innovation is inspiration and teaching from nature. Science, maths, physics... Each of them has led to discoveries by imitating the fascinating rhythms of nature. For example, aeroplanes resemble the wings of birds, music emerged from the rhythms of nature, colours were developed thanks to nature. Humans have chosen their settlements according to the opportunities offered to them by nature. In order to sustain their lives, they learnt from nature which crops to grow and how to grow them.
For these reasons, we should not forget that nature is a marvellous learning environment just like a classroom. These lessons are of vital importance for understanding the rhythm of nature, learning to live in harmony with it, and leaving a more livable and sustainable world to future generations.
If we fail to achieve this harmony, we will learn bitter lessons from nature. Major natural events, the devastating effects of climate change, floods, temperature increases, forest fires, decreases in biodiversity, drought... Many disasters are caused by humans. In order to understand our dependence on nature and our responsibilities, we need education.
That is why we invite everyone who wants to discover and strengthen the bond between education and nature to participate in our 2nd My First Teacher Nature photography contest, which we are organising for the 2nd time this year in cooperation with İFSAK with the support of Garanti BBVA Investment. Tell us what nature, our first teacher, teaches us with your photographs!
Remember, this competition is not only a photography competition, but also a call. We invite you to understand the lessons of nature for a more livable world!
